HyreKitchen is a free AI meal planner run from Denton, Texas. This page explains what it stores about you, who else sees any of it, and how to get it deleted. Short version: we keep what the app needs to plan your meals, we don't sell it, there are no ads or trackers, and you can ask us to delete all of it.
What we store
Your account. Your email address, the first name you give us (optional) and your password, which we keep only as a salted hash, so we can't read it. If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, email address, profile picture link and an account ID so we can recognise you next time. Facebook sign-in, if offered, works the same way.
How your household eats. The setup answers you give and can change in Settings: how many people you cook for and whether kids eat with you, how you like to cook, your goal (for example losing weight or eating more protein), any calorie target, allergies, foods you dislike, your eating style (for example vegetarian or gluten-free), favourite proteins and cuisines, and your kitchen equipment. Allergies, diets and calorie goals can say something about your health. We use them only to plan your meals.
What you do in the app. Your meal plans and anything you type when asking for meals, the recipes in your book, star ratings, the quick notes you tick (such as "more spice") and any comment you write, shopping lists, pantry staples and what's in your fridge, what you cooked and when, and events you plan (such as a birthday dinner, with its date and guest count).
Fridge photos. When you use "Cook what's in my pantry", we store the photo only long enough to read it and delete it when you save the list. If you leave a scan unfinished, the photo is deleted when you start your next scan, or sooner if you ask us.
Your Kroger link, if you choose to connect. We store the store you pick, its ZIP code, the products you choose for each ingredient, and the access keys Kroger gives us to add items to your cart. You sign in on Kroger's own site; we never see your Kroger password and we don't read your Kroger profile.
Email records. Which emails we sent you and when, and your email settings.
Technical data. Our hosting provider records IP addresses and requests in short-term logs, and we use IP addresses to limit abuse (for example, too many password-reset requests). If you haven't given us a ZIP code, we use the approximate US state your connection comes from only to suggest food that's in season there, and we don't store it.
Who else sees it
Your household. A kitchen can have two people. When you invite someone and they join, you share everything in the kitchen: the setup answers (including allergies and calorie targets), plans, lists, the book, pantry, events and the Kroger store. You also see each other's name, email address, star ratings, notes and comments. Your password, sign-in, Kroger connection and email settings stay your own.
Other HyreKitchen users, for recipes only. Recipes the app writes for you, and recipes you import from a link, go into a shared recipe library that other users can browse and cook. Your name, email, ratings, notes and comments are never shown with them, but an overall star average is. A recipe can reflect what you asked for, so don't put private details in a meal request.
Nobody else sees your account. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to show you ads.
Services we use
These companies process some of your data so the app can work. Each one gets only what its job needs.

When you import a recipe from a link, our server visits that page to read the recipe. The site you link to sees a visit from HyreKitchen, not from you.
Cookies and your browser
We use a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 days, plus two short-lived cookies (10 minutes) that keep Google and Kroger sign-in secure. Your browser also remembers a few small settings, such as how many people you last cooked for and running cook-along timers. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and no tracking pixels in our emails.
Emails
Account emails (welcome, password resets, household invites, Kroger reconnect notices and cart receipts) come with having an account. Reminders (your plan is ready, time to rate a meal, a favourite is due back, and weekly sales) can be switched off in Settings → Email or with the unsubscribe link in each one.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your data while you have an account. Fridge photos are deleted as described above.
To delete your account, go to Settings → Account in the app and tap Delete my account. You confirm with your password, or by typing your email address if you've only ever signed in with Google, and it happens straight away: we delete your account, your sign-in links, ratings, comments, Kroger connection, and email settings and records. If you're the only person in your kitchen, we also delete the kitchen and everything in it, including any fridge photo still waiting to be saved. If someone else shares your kitchen, the kitchen stays with them. Recipes already in the shared library stay there, with nothing that identifies you.
Can't sign in? Email support@hyrekitchen.com from the address you signed up with and we'll delete your account within 30 days.
For a copy of your data, email the same address and we'll send it to you. You can change your setup answers, email settings and Kroger connection yourself in Settings at any time.
Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have other rights, such as asking what we hold about you or objecting to how we use it. Email us and we'll help.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and sign-in cookies can't be read by scripts on the page. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects your data, we'll tell you.
Children
HyreKitchen is for adults planning meals, including meals for their kids. You must be 13 or older to make an account. If you think a child under 13 has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
